UAPCS Board Candidate – Julie Adamic

Julie Adamic has called Utah home since 1985 when she began attending BrighamYoung University as a political science mayor. After receiving a teaching assistant jobat Dixon Middle School, she change her major to English with a secondary educationendorsement. She began teaching Language Arts at Dixon in the winter of 1990 after ateacher left mid year.

Julie became a stay at home mom in 1995 after the birth of her third child. She remainedactive in education through volunteerism at her children’s school. In the fall of 2000 shebegan working with other passionate parents on charter school legislation and helpedpass legislation in 2001 that allowed for more charter schools in the State of Utah. Thisopened the door for her to write a charter which was approved in September of 2001 bythe Utah State Board of Education.

John Hancock Charter School opened its doors in the fall of 2002 and Julie has served asits Director since that time. She has been an advocate for public charter schools for 10years and has build multiple relationships.
